I think it's fair to say that this story is now over with. Whole Foods has clarified the situation and the Ramadan promotion is continuing without interruption. Multiple Muslim organizations and media outlets have expressed their support for Whole Foods. And those who created and spread this story now have a bit of egg on their faces. Not organic :-)

This judgment is a disaster for religious freedom in this country. A recent challenge to the 'five preferred religions in California prisons' policy brought by representatives of minority religions (led by a Wiccan) was turned down, citing the Arizona case. It's a clear case of government favoring some traditions and ignoring others, because they have no 'standing' - an American travesty. I hope and trust that Religious Freedom USA and First Amendment organizations everywhere will pick up this cause, unpack the consequences for the public, and make it an issue in the forthcoming election.

Dear friends,
In my blog I express the sincere hope that the eminent Dr. Ben Johnson will consider extending the invitation to mutual understanding to the Baha'is of Atlanta (for some reason I originally thought his church was in Lewisville NC).

Kind regards.
