Open House Spurs Multifaith Sentiment
WORCESTER — The attempted arson of a local mosque a month ago could have left its congregation with emotional scars. But knowing that a neighbor prevented a fire disaster left the group’s members grateful and relieved.
Those feelings were made very clear during an open house Saturday at the Islamic Society of Greater Worcester, held by the group to continue close contact with the surrounding community.
“I was shocked that somebody would do this, but at the same time, I felt very relieved that our neighbors were so vigilant and made the right reaction at the right time,” said Khalid K. Sadozai, the society’s general secretary.
