Wednesday Democrats challenged Rep. Peter King’s (R-NY) second Muslim radicalization hearing, a hearing that many find to be nothing but thinly veiled religious discrimination and bigotry, and a betrayal of American values of religious freedom and liberty.

Representative Laura Richardson (D-CA) spoke for many Democrats at Wednesday’s hearing by noting that King’s obsession with Islamic radicalization “can be deemed racist and discriminatory.”
“I do not disagree that radicalization occurs. What I disagree with is the scope of this committee’s only focusing on one particular group. I actually feel that the focus on one particular group on the basis of race or religion can be considered discriminatory.”
King, the Republican chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, has pledged to hold numerous hearings probing the extent of Islamic terrorist recruitment in the U.S. Wednesday’s hearing focused on alleged recruitment of Islamic terrorists in America’s prisons.
