The sender of the message was recognizable as a regular reader, one with a level head, but the subject matter was a little bizarre. “Bob, what is all this … I see regarding Christie appointing a Hamas sympathizer to the N.J. Supreme Court?”
A search of the Internet found the source, a blog claiming that one of the governor’s nominations to the state Superior Court was not to be trusted, or as the blog put it, the “first step toward becoming the Sharia State.”
Sharia, Arabic for way or path, is the sacred law of Islam.
The man is Sohail Mohammed of Clifton, an immigration attorney, Democrat and the lawyer for many immigrants arrested after the 9/11 attacks. The FBI and other agencies credit him for bringing them up to date on Muslim culture.
The nomination isn’t new, it was one of many made last year that the Senate didn’t get around to holding a hearing on. Christie had to renominate.
