ANNOUNCEMENT: The Liberty Walk: Interfaith Rally for Religious Freedom
Greeting Fellow Supporters of Religious Freedom,
We are pleased to announce that Religious Freedom USA is leading a demonstration in support of Park51. We must support the religious freedoms that are at stake for all Americans. Please share this with everyone you know who support religious freedom:
The Liberty Walk: Interfaith Rally for Religious Freedom
Sunday, Sept. 12, 3pm
Starting at St Peter’s Church
We will walk from St Peter’s Church to a synagogue (TBD), World Trade Center, and finish at Park51. Please be respectful and mindful. We won’t allow any signs at this demonstration. Rather, we ask everyone to bring a flag to the demonstration as a reminder of religious freedom.
What You Can Do:
- Email and post this to everyone you know who would want to join.
- Confirm and invite friends to our Facebook event, and retweet our announcement.
- Get involved or suggest a friend in our Action Team or internships. We need volunteeers IMMEDIATELY to make this event a success. Please distribute to anyone who you may think is interested.
- Make the flyer your Facebook profile picture, print it and distribute it at your workplace, campus, or house of worship.
- Help spread the message in the media. If you plan on writing an op-ed or a story, please reach out to us first! It is imperative that we keep a clean, positive message that focuses on religious freedom, while abstaining from name-calling, politicking, or being insensitive to the opinions of others. We can help you do so with clear talking points, and context for background information.
- Spread the word. Tell your friends about it, share it on campus and at work, bring it up at your religious service. These can be difficult conversations to have, but the goal is to challenge the public opinion, and this starts with conversations between friends.
- Come! Bring your friends, family, co-workers, organize a carpool or meeting point to commute together.
Together, not as Christians, Jews, or Muslims, but as Americans, we can uphold the American values that brought our ancestors here, the freedoms that we take for granted, and the ideals that we must uphold for our future.
With Love and Hope,
Frank Fredericks and Joshua Stanton
Co-Directors of Religious Freedom USA
